Job Summary:
The essential function of the position within the organization is to perform advanced technical duties associated with the Office of Solid Waste’s management programs and facilities; including operating heavy equipment, maintenance, and operations. This position is responsible for leading and participating in daily assignments as a working team member, ensuring the proper and safe use of equipment, reporting daily progress to supervisor and performing related tasks as assigned. The position works under general supervision of the Solid Waste Coordinator; assists in the development of work methods and sequences to complete tasks.
This position may be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Requires a high school diploma or GED with two (2) years of Heavy Equipment experience. One year of supervisory experience preferred.
Requires a valid Florida Class “A” Driver’s License with no transmission restrictions within six (6) months of employment. Landfill Operator certification within six months of employment and is required to remain active through CEU’s. Must obtain OSHA HAZWOPER (29 CFR1910) forty (40) hour certificate within six months of employment with current annual refresher.
