Job Summary:
The essential function of the position within the organization is to provide support and expertise to the Water Resources Department in managing, monitoring, and protecting the county’s water resources. The position assists with developing and overseeing water resource programs, including hydrologic studies, water quality monitoring, and water resource management projects. The hydrogeologist will work closely with other departments, state and federal agencies, and the public. The position in coordination with the Executive Director is responsible for conducting technical analyses, preparing reports, managing projects, and providing scientific recommendations regarding groundwater conditions, aquifer recharge, and water resource program strategies. The position is responsible for preparing and submitting reports and recommendations to the Executive Director and County officials and assists in developing and implementing programs within organizational policies, reporting activities to the Executive Director and executive level administrators through conferences, presentations, and reports.
This position shall be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
The County may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience for selected position postings on a year-for-year basis, provided that the education/experience is in a relevant or related field.
Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in hydrogeology, hydrology, geology or a closely related field and five years of experience in hydrology or hydrogeology; or registration with the State of Florida as a professional geologist or professional engineer. A master’s degree is preferred.
Requires three to five years of progressively responsible experience in hydrogeology, water resource management, or a related field.
Requires a valid Florida driver’s license.
