Job Summary:

The essential function of the position within the organization is to perform skilled mechanical repair work on any of the following: diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles, trucks, heavy and light equipment, boats, spray equipment used by the County, as well as other mechanical systems, ensuring that repaired equipment runs properly and safely. Duties are performed in compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures. The position works under general supervision independently developing work methods and sequences. This position may be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Requires high school diploma or GED and one year of college or vocational school education in automotive mechanics. May requires a valid Florida Class “B” CDL license – or may need to obtain within 6 months of employment; may be required to possess or obtain technical certification(s) as deemed necessary by supervisor (including but not limited to general pesticide application, forklift certification, ASE Certifications in Automotive / Truck Repair and/or EVT Certifications.)
