Job Summary:
The essential function of the position is to coordinate and supervise all commercial and residential building plan review activities for Lake County. The position is responsible for supervising staff, reviewing plans for compliance with applicable codes, laws, and local ordinances and assisting clients in attaining code compliance. The employee also performs related professional and administrative work as required. The position works independently, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
This position may be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a closely related field. Requires a minimum of 5 years working as a plans examiner, licensed Architect, or licensed Engineer of progressively responsible related experience.
Must possess three (3) State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation designation as a Standard Plans Examiner in Building, Mechanical, Plumbing or Electrical or be able to acquire provisional license(s) within thirty days of employment OR possess Florida registration as an Architect or an Engineer licensed under FS 481 or 471 respectively. with a Standard Plans Examiner in Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, or Electrical. A Fire Safety Inspectors Certificate through the Division of State Fire Marshal of Florida may count in lieu of one of the Standard Plans Examiner Licenses.
Requires a valid Florida driver’s license.
