Job Summary:

The essential function of the position within the organization is direct public contact work with limited supervisory responsibility and emphasis on serving the public by providing information, direction and assistance. Protects public property by interpreting and enforcing rules and regulations and County/City ordinances. Performs semi-skilled work in the maintenance of County parks, trails and facilities. The position is responsible for performing grounds keeping, carpentry, painting, masonry and general maintenance work as assigned. The position works under direct supervision according to set procedures.

This position requires the ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, weekends, nights and holidays.

This position shall be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Requires high school diploma or GED with two (2) years of related experience. (Law or code enforcement, security, ecology, or as an environmental instructor or ranger in a recognized park, recreation or ranger program - experience working as a clerk or secretary is not acceptable.)
Requires a valid Florida driver's license.

This position requires certification in natural areas weed management within eighteen (18) months of employment. This position also requires public pesticide applicator certifications to be obtained within 6 months of employment and maintained thereafter for the categories of core, natural areas, aquatics, right-of-way and ornamental turf.
