Job Summary:
The essential function of the position within the organization is to plan, direct and supervise all programs and operations of the Public Works Department, including the management of the County’s roads and bridges, stormwater systems, and engineering programs. This position is responsible for supervising division directors, including Office of Fleet Management and support staff, administering budgets, developing the County’s Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan, reporting project progress to Assistant County Manager, County Manager and Board of County Commissioners, and performing related professional, administrative and supervisory work as required. The position formulates long range goals for the organization; develops policy and position papers and negotiates with chief administrative officer and/or elected officials.
This position shall be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
The County may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience for selected position postings on a year-for-year basis, provided that the education/experience is in a relevant or related field.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration or a closely related field with a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible related experience.
Requires a valid Florida driver’s license.
