Job Summary:
The essential function of the position within the organization is to review and evaluate commercial and residential building plans for compliance with pertinent local ordinances and state codes. The position is responsible for assisting clients in attaining code compliance, processing plans for permitting, and maintaining related database and reports. The position works under general supervision independently developing work methods and sequences.
This position may be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a closely related field with four (4) years of related plans examiner experience.
Must possess two (2) State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation designation as a Standard Plans Examiner in Building, Mechanical, Plumbing or Electrical or be able to acquire provisional license(s) within thirty days of employment, a Fire Safety Inspectors Certificate through the Division of State Fire Marshal of Florida may count in lieu of one of the Standard Plans Examiner Licenses.
Requires a valid Florida driver’s license.
