EVENT SUBMISSION DISCLAIMER
PURPOSE
The purpose of Lake County’s online calendar is to provide information regarding public events for residents and visitors. It is offered as a free tool for event organizers to advertise and promote events to the residents and visitors to the area.
OVERVIEW
Events listed in the calendar are designed to announce one-time or special events for programs. No announcements may be posted that will promote commercial businesses and interests. An event submitted by businesses will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, with approval given only if the event is deemed to offer significant value to Lake County residents and visitors.
The calendar is intended to be used for public events and local festivals sponsored by government, civic, community and non-profit organizations. The calendar is not a public forum to be used to exercise free speech.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
All events must be open to the general public, and must not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation or military status.
Events that are submitted must fall within one of these categories:
- Arts/Culture
- Education/Social Club
- Exhibit/Attraction
- Festival/Event
- Government
- Nature Activity
- Non-Profit Fundraiser/Benefit
- Sports Activity
Submission of an event does not guarantee the event will be approved. All submissions must be complete, including a point of contact that can be reached for questions regarding the submission. Any pictures submitted with events must be copyright free, and owned by the event organizer or permission given to the event organizer for use. Event information must include whether there is an admission charge.
Although every effort is made to review and approve events within 48 business hours, please be sure to allow up to 5 business days for review and approval of events.
Submission Review and Publishing
Lake County retains the right to edit, add, remove or refuse to post a submitted event for any reason the County deems necessary. A submitted event will not be posted if the event does not occur within Lake County, the event is advertising a commercial endeavor rather than a community event, or the submission for the event is lacking pertinent information. The following events will not be posted:
- Events that conflict with federal, state, or local law;
- Events that conflict with Lake County’s Policies and Procedures;
- Events that promote or involve illegal activities;
- Benefits/Fundraisers for individuals;
- Rallies or demonstrations;
- Routine or regularly rescheduled workshops or classes/activities (i.e. – exercise groups, regular weekly classes, promotional sales, church services, etc.); and
- Anything relating to candidates for public/political office or political organizations.
Approval or denial of events is at the discretion of the calendar editor. If you feel your event was deleted in error, please contact [email protected].
Please note: All events, including virtual events, must be associated with a local Lake County business and include the street address, as well as city of the local business.
Privacy Notice
Email addresses are considered public record under Florida Law and are not exempt from public-records requirements. If you do not want an email address to be available for release via a public-records request do not send included this email on written communciations to this entity or its employees. Instead, contact us by standard mail or telephone.
