Job Summary

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF SOLID WASTE

Provides assistance to the Office of Solid Waste Director in planning, directing, and supervising the operations and activities of the Office of Solid Waste, including contracted collection and disposal, a system of public collection sites for residential waste and recyclables and long-term care, maintaining vital records and files and direct supervision of department staff. The position in coordination with the Director is responsible for managing and supervising staff, budgets and securing program resources, always ensuring the provision of professional customer service, preparing and submitting reports and recommendations to the Director and County officials, and performing related professional, administrative, and supervisory work as required. The position assists in developing and implementing programs within organizational policies; reports major activities to the Director and executive level administrators through conferences, presentations, and reports. Provide continuity of leadership. This position may be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Requires a bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Architecture, Management, Public Administration, or a closely related field with five years of progressively responsible related experience.
