Job Summary

AREA MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

The essential function of the position within the organization is to supervise the work of crew members engaged in the construction and maintenance of County roads, bridges, stormwater and related structures. The position is responsible for coordinating and supervising daily operations on assigned projects and in assigned areas of the County, ensuring the proper and safe use of equipment, and performing related tasks as assigned. The position works under general supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings. This position shall be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. High School Diploma or GED and one year of college or vocational school education in general construction, road construction or a closely related field. Five (5)years experience in road construction and/or maintenance of roads or related projects and a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions Requires a valid Florida CDL Class “B” driver’s license within six (6) months of date of hire, Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic certification within six (6) months of date of hire, Florida Department of Environmental Protection Qualified Stormwater Management Inspector within one (1) year from date of hire and Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Herbicide / Pesticide license with Right-of-Way Endorsement within one (1) year from date of hire.
