Job Summary:
This position manages, coordinates, and directs various work units within the Lake County Fire Rescue Department. Assists with program evaluation in accordance with policy and addresses any compliance issues. Assigned to the Operations Division that will oversee multiple Fire/EMS Battalions assigned to shift or 40-hours in emergency service delivery of field operations, and/or other areas as required. May oversee training, Emergency Medical Services, ISO compliance, Special Operations Team, service delivery improvements, and other special duties as assigned. Additional duties include responding to fire, rescue, and emergency medical incidents and may coordinate emergency activities with other agencies in first response, automatic-aid and/or mutual aid situations.
Work is performed with considerable independence requiring the exercise of discretion, sound judgement, and self-initiative under the general direction of the Public Safety Director or designee. Work performance is reviewed through observations, conferences, meetings, reports, and results achieved.
This position shall be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or other emergency duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive upward career growth in a public safety agency related to Fire, Rescue, EMS. At least three (3) years of related experience at the rank of Battalion Chief or mid-level supervisory equivalent or higher, in a career Public Safety Agency consisting of at least six (6) Fire/EMS stations AND has a minimum of two (2) geographically assigned Fire/EMS Battalion Chiefs per shift within said Public Safety agency related to emergency service delivery of Fire-Rescue-EMS.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, CREDENTIALS, AND DESIGNATIONS REQUIRED:
DUAL-CERTIFICATION (Firefighter and Paramedic). CANDIDATES REQUIREMENTS: Must possess and maintain a State of Florida Firefighter FS. 633 Certificate of Compliance, Florida Fire Officer II or higher, Active State of Florida Paramedic, Valid Florida Driver’s License, Incident Command Certificates in IS-100, IS-200, IS-300, IS-400, IS-700, IS-800.
DESIRED CERTIFICATIONS INCLUDE: Graduate of the National Fire Academy Managing Fire Officer Program, Certified Public Manager, Fire Inspector, Fire Instructor, and other Fire-related certifications demonstrating professional career growth.
May be required to obtain other technical or professional certifications or designations as directed by the Public Safety Director.
