Job Summary:
The Public Lands Program Manager is responsible for assisting with public land acquisition and for overseeing the stewardship, management, and conservation of public lands within Lake County to support environmental initiatives. This role ensures the protection and enhancement of natural resources while balancing ecological health, public access, recreation, and sustainable land-use planning and to ensure compliance with land management plans and grant requirements. The position requires close collaboration with government agencies, including but not limited to Lake County Water Authority, SJRWMD, FDEP, FWC, SWFWMD, FDOT, Municipalities, as well as the County Manager and County Commissioners as the needs arise. This position also works in coordination with the following advisory boards: Lake County Water Authority, Parks, Recreation and Trails Advisory Board, and the Public Lands and Trails Acquisition Advisory Committee. This position shall be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, Natural Resource Management, Conservation Biology, public land management, forestry or a related field. Requires a valid Florida driver’s license. Minimum of 5 years of experience in public land management, conservation planning, or environmental policy implementation, preferably within a government setting.
