Job Summary:
The essential function of the position is to assist the Emergency Management Director in overseeing all operations pertaining to day-to-day tasks and during disasters/emergencies as required by the Office of Emergency Management. The position is responsible for overseeing assigned Emergency Management staff, performing the duty of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Manager during all activities, and performing various administrative duties as required. The Deputy Director of the Office of Emergency Management shall have direct oversight in the management, administration and technical work required to direct personnel, programs and activities.
This position shall be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration or related field with seven years of public safety operations or planning experience, knowledge of the principles and practices of emergency management administration and governmental agencies, knowledge and application of Emergency Management Preparedness and Assistance (EMPA) grant, Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG), and use of records and their application to the solution of disaster and emergency situations.
Requires completion of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Professional Development Series.
Requires Certification as a Florida Professional Emergency Manager from the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association or the Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) credential from the International Association of Emergency Managers or the ability to achieve certification within two years.
Requires a valid Florida driver’s license.
Requires completion of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Professional Development Series.
