Job Summary:
The essential function of the position within the organization is to assist the shelter veterinarian, provide patient care, and provide information to the public. This position works under the management authority of the Shelter Veterinarian, or designee. The Veterinary Technician II maintains effective communications with the veterinary and shelter staff, public and outside agencies. This position will work closely with foster volunteers to promote health and wellness of animals in foster care.
Responsible for ensuring humane treatment and handling of all animals, maintaining a high standard for animal care and customer service, as well as adherence of policies and procedures. Performs related administrative work as required.
This position shall be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Requires high school diploma, GED, and a Veterinary Technician Certification from an accredited institution and at least five (5) years’ related experience. May require completion of euthanasia certification to be completed within a year of hire date.
May require as deemed necessary: Veterinary Technician Certification from an accredited institution.
Euthanasia Certification through the Florida Animal Control Association.
Requires a valid Florida driver’s license.
Requires five (5) years of related experience.
