Steve: DO you have a letter from FDOT stating the Formal Name?  If not please lets get it before the letters from 911 go out again.

Thanks,

Fred

This response is from my memo to Laura Nichols of Addressing, requesting the old CR44B be changed to SR44. Stating that CR44B was accidentally, from states request, changed to SR44B and should be SR44, per Lake County's agreement with FDOT.  I received a phone call from Harryette with most of the information below, questioning or reminding that the cities be notified.

Subject: SR 44B Name Change

In June we were notified by Public Works that State DOT was changing the name of CR 44B to SR 44B between SR 44 and US HWY 441 in Eustis/Mt Dora. We sent address change letters to all the residents changing their road name (not address) to SR 44B. We received many negative comments about this change at that time. In October, Public Works notified us that DOT wanted to change this again to a continuation of SR 44. We advised Public Works that this would entail re-numbering the road and that the residents would not be happy about this.

Today, we received a request from Public Works to rename SR 44B to SR 44. We are letting you know that the address numbers along this road will change from the 33000 block to the 18000 block for the 37 businesses and private residents along this road. We will undoubtedly receive many complaints about this change. This road is located in Commissioner Hanson’s District and her office will receive complaints also.

Public Works has requested we do this as soon as possible. We have notified Public Works that we will start working on this and will have the letters ready to go out the 1st week in January.
