According to Florida Statutes, Section 335.0415, if the sidewalk is in the City Limits, the City is responsible for the maintenance.

Dennis,

Steve took a number of photos.  There are a number of locations that had been marked at some time in the past.  The photo I have attached is at the location described in Nadine’s email.  The rest of the photos, should you wish to view them, are in the following folder:  R:\Public Works\MaintArea3\Pictures - MA III\Abrams Rd\Sidewalk 101711.  Steve says that he measured a total of 140 feet of sidewalk that would need repair, if they are ours.  We are awaiting Right-of-Way information.  It appears, from our “layman’s” point of view, that the sidewalk may not be in our ROW.  I emailed the request to Lonnie at about 15:00 yesterday.

Another ROW issue to update you on – I emailed Lonnie about the tree on Orange St at 10:05, expressing (and apologizing for) the urgent priority of the request.  I also called him to make sure he was in and would receive the email.  He said that he was still working on the Abrams Rd request.  I told him that Randy needed the Orange St info first, due to Commissioner involvement.  He said that he wouldn’t be able to release the info until afternoon, because the people who have to check his work were in a meeting and wouldn’t return until Noon.  (BTW, I got a read receipt notice on the Orange St email at 10:40.)

I will let you know as soon as I receive ROW info on both of these.

Nadine,

We had no sidewalk requests on file in CarteGraph for Abrams Rd.  I checked with Mr. Warren’s office, and he also checked with the Engineering Division.  Neither of those offices had anything on file, either.  Steve is taking photos and we will be barricading off the area until a repair can be effected.  I will email you the photos when I have them.
