“ O ne of m y goals is to intr oduce triathlons to people who

for triathlete tr aining because

Ty pically held outdoors , triathlons consis t of open- w a ter 
swimming , endur ance cy cling 
a n dl o n g- di st a n c er u n n i n g. 
The Ir onman triathlon, which 
is consider ed the mos t difficult 
of the triathlonvarieties , is 
made up of a 2 . 4-mile swim, 
11 2-mile bik e and 26 .2-mile run. 
B y comparison, the NTC Indoor T r i Series won’t be as 
s tr i n g e n t .T h e4 0 0 - m e t e r

swim will r e quir e participants 
to do 25 laps in the pool, which 
is less than a mile . Then the 
participants will bik e for nine 
miles on st ationary bik es located under a co v e r e d pavilion 
near the pool and run 2 . 5 miles 
on a tr eadmill.

“It’s a gr eat idea for a lot of 
newbies because it’s short distances,” saidLisaVe res, an 
NTCvolunteercoordinator 
who will also be participating 
in the triathlon as w e ll.

cos t is $ 2 0 for individuals and

Congr egational minis ter . “W e ar e

s t anding together , w a lking together , being together .”

Sikh, Un itarian and Ba ha’i faiths ,

The service wa s both an act of 
empath y for all who los t friends 
and re lativ es and a public sho w of 
support for Hu nter , whose son 
died by suicide in December. 
“This is a service designed to 
bring comfort to all that ha ve had 
losses , but it ’s also a collectiv e embr ace of him and his family for 
their loss of Is aac, ” said Pa st or 
Ja mes Coffin, ex ecutiv e dir ector 
of the Interfaith Council of Centr al Florida.

One of his longes t friendships 
is with Imam Mu hammad Mu sri,

“ H e i s a n eva n g e l i c a l l e a d e r 
who got a lot of flak for going out 
and meeting with Mu slims and 
other communities ,” said Mu sri, 
who sat beside Hu nter . 
“The leas twe can do is be with 
him and lift up his spirit. ” 
That willingness to join in with 
other re ligions might ha ve cos t 
Hu nter friends among eva ngelicals , but his commitment to interfaith cooper ation is the natur al 
ex tension of his Chris tian faith, 
said Fu lwider , pr esident of Bu ilding US , a nonpr ofit div ersity consulting and tr aining or ganization. 
“H e ha s be co me a fr ie nd to 
those in other faith communities 
because this is who Je sus calls 
him to be,” Fu lwider said. 
“H e is not a person who cuts
